I've got a 2017 Accord with the CVT transmission, just hit 75,000 kilometers. Over the past few weeks I've noticed a faint whining noise when accelerating gently, especially between 30 and 50 km/h. It's not loud, no shuddering, no slipping, just a noise that wasn't there before. I took it to a Honda dealer in Dubai and they said "all CVTs make some noise" and quoted me 500 dirhams for a transmission inspection which they said probably wasn't necessary. That didn't make me feel confident. I've been reading online and some people say a whine is normal, others say it's the first sign of belt failure. I don't want to ignore it and end up with a blown transmission. A friend told me about a sharjah expert gearbox workshop that specializes in Honda and Nissan CVTs and can do a proper fluid analysis and belt inspection. Has anyone here had a CVT whine that turned out to be nothing? Or did it lead to failure down the road? I change the CVT fluid every 30k like the manual says, so I thought I was doing everything right. I'm trying to decide if I should pay for a diagnostic or just keep driving and hope for the best. The car is paid off and I'd like to keep it for a few more years. Any advice from Accord or Civic owners with CVT experience would be really helpful. Thanks.
