Is Unicode Conversion Necessary for Managing Old Hindi Documents? - jamesanderson - 05-20-2026

During a recent project, I had to work with several old Hindi files that were originally typed using legacy fonts, and it quickly became difficult to use that content on modern websites and mobile devices because of compatibility issues.
After searching for solutions, I found that converting krutidev to unicode is often recommended since Unicode text works much better across browsers, smartphones, and search engines without creating display errors.
I’m curious how others usually handle this process:
  • Are online conversion tools accurate enough for professional use?
  • Do formatting issues happen frequently after conversion?
  • Is Unicode always the better option for long-term storage and publishing?
  • What’s the easiest way to convert large batches of older documents?
Would appreciate hearing suggestions and experiences from anyone who regularly works with Hindi typing or document conversion.
